This policy explains the standards that guide Globevia News journalism.

Accuracy

We aim to get facts right the first time. Reporters verify information with primary sources wherever possible, and claims that cannot be verified are attributed clearly or left out.

Fairness and impartiality

We report fairly on all sides of a story and give people who are criticised a reasonable opportunity to respond before publication.

Sources

We identify our sources whenever we can. Anonymous sources are used only when the information is important to the public, cannot be obtained another way, and the editor knows the source’s identity.

Bylines and dates

Every article carries the name of its author or the Globevia News desk, the date and time it was first published, and the date and time of any substantial update. We never change publication dates to make older stories look new.

Separation of news and opinion

Opinion and analysis are labelled clearly and kept separate from news reporting.

Images

Photographs are not altered in ways that mislead. Captions describe what the image actually shows, and images are credited.

Artificial intelligence

Any use of automated tools in our reporting is supervised by editors, and every published article is reviewed and approved by a member of our staff.
